There’s a definite nip in the air as winter starts to creep into South Africa. Before winter sets in for good, the Dialdirect Namola team wants to remind South Africans to be prepared when trying to stay warm.
There are a number of ways that people choose to keep themselves and their homes warm. If you are using one of the methods below, make sure you are aware of the risks involved, and take the precautions suggested:
Gas heaters. Make sure that your gas heater is a certified brand. Only use gas heaters in well-ventilated rooms, or where there is a door or window open and allow fresh air in.Electric heaters. Make sure that you switch your electric heater off when you go to sleep or when you leave the house. Be careful not to cover the heater with clothes, as this can cause accidental fires.Fires. Keep matches and lighters out of children’s reach and never leave children unattended with an open flame. Never go to sleep with an open fire burning (whether its a candle or in a fireplace).
